NASSS sees Lindong dacoity as ‘total failure’ of State administration

GANGTOK, 06 Dec:  The Nagarik Adhikar Suraksha Sangathan, Sikkim [NASSS] has condemned the Sunday night dacoity in the house of one Sonam Pinsto Bhutia, also known as Maila Mahajan of Simik Lingzey [Lingdong] as a “total failure of the State administration”, in a press release issued by the organization today.

According to the release, locals of the area had reported some unidentified troublemakers in the area as posing a threat to the people. However, the release contends, no efforts were made by the administration to look into the matter, resulting in the Sunday robbery which could have been avoided.
The incident occurred late in the night of 04 Dec when no male members were present in the house except one care taker who was defenseless, the release mentions, further informing that 2 guns, 25 tolas of gold, Rs 1. 5 lakh in cash and precious jewelry were amongst the materials stolen.
The attack on a doctor on duty in Dentam followed by this robbery and the administration failing to take action even after receiving reports is indicative of the lack of security for people in the state, the release contends.
