30 SC women complete training program in knitting


GANGTOK, 04 Dec: The valedictory function of a three-month long knitting program for Scheduled Caste (SC) beneficiaries, sponsored by the Welfare Department, was held today by Eswarmma Social Welfare Association (ESWA) of Lower Arithang.

The programme was attended by the Director, Welfare Department, Paljor Bhutia, members of ESWA and trainees.
During the training held from 01 Sep to 30 Nov, 30 women from the SC community, selected from in and around Gangtok, were trained in knitting by two instructors, informs a press release.
At the end of the training program, certificates and knitting machines were given to each participant by the Departmental officials. The participants thanked the Department for providing such a training which could go a long way to support their efforts in gaining self reliance, the release mentions.
Officials from the department appreciated the effort of ESWA for organizing such a program, and the participants for completing the training program, the release adds.
