Air Force team undergoes paragliding camp in Sikkim

GANGTOK, 05 Dec: A 12-member team from the Adventure Node of India Air Force was in Sikkim from 01 - 02 Dec for a paragliding camp with ‘Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society Ltd’, informs a press release.
The team was headed by Director of Adventure, Air Force Station, New Delhi, Wg Cdr Vasant Raj and had air-force personnel from different base including, SQN LDR S. Sharath Chandra, Wg Cdr R.K. Singh and paragliding pilots.
The vice-president of the Society, Raju Rai was the sky guide during their camp in Chakung. They logged a total of 30 flights during their two-day camp in Chakung.
According to the release, the Society’s main objective is to make Sikkim a paragliding destination and attracting visiting pilots from outside the state is also a part of it. Last month the women’s champion of the Pre-world cup 2011, Bulgarian pilot, Daniela had visited Sikkim and flew with the Society pilots in all their sites for five days and she was also very impressed with the potential for the sport in our State.
The release further mentions that the Air Force team was very impressed with the quality and safety procedures maintained by the society in the sport. The team has assured a long term association with the Society for establishing the sport in a very organised and quality way in Sikkim.
