MANGAN, 05 Dec: Auditions for the state contingent for the 17th National Youth Festival to be held from 12 to 19 January 2012 were completed yesterday for all four districts of Sikkim, informs a press release issued by president, Tumin Lingee Youth Association, Lall Bahadur Pandey.
The auditions to select 100 participants to represent the State at the upcoming National Youth Festival in Bangalore were conducted by the Tumin-Lingee Youth Association from 01 to 04 Dec. The panel of judges comprised of Karma Lepcha and Kala Bhutia (Sr. Artists, Culture Deptt.) for the South/West District and Gayatri Rai and Sonam Wangyal Bhutia (Sr. Artists, Culture Deptt.), for North and East Districts.
The selection was made on the basis of the performance of participants from all four districts at different venues, the release informs. Participants were selected for folk dance, folk song, one act play (English/Hindi), classical vocal (Solo) and instrumental (Solo). The Sikkim contingent will perform folk dances and songs of Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali in the weeklong festival, the release adds.
