SPCC SUBMITS MEMORANDUM
GANGTOK, 06 Nov: The Union Minister of State for Power, KC Venugopal, arrived in Gangtok, Sikkim today. The Union Minister of State is on a two day visit to the state and before arriving at Gangtok visited a couple of hydel projects on the way in East District.
Thereafter, he is informed to have visited Rumtek. Mr.Venugopal is putting up at Mayfair Resorts. A delegation of the State Congress led by party president, NB Bhandari met with the Minister and submitted a memorandum. This is informed to be the same memorandum which had earlier been submitted to the Prime Minister when the latter had visited Sikkim in late September, 2011. The memorandum calls for the scrapping of hydel projects in the state as they are alleged to have been the cause for the widespread damage in the state in the wake of the earthquake of 18 September.  It also calls for proper monitoring of the relief fund being disbursed among the victims.
