Bakr-Id begins at Rangpo

RANGPO, 07 Nov: The three-day Bakr-id festival of the Muslim community began from today after the Namaaz here at Rangpo.
At 8.30 am, a huge number of Muslims gathered at Rangpo IBM where the Imam of Anjuman Islamiya offered Namaaz. Owing to the 18 Sept earthquake, the celebrations this year have been scaled down and the festival began in a solemn manner.
According to historical spiritual books, the festival began from the time of King Paigambar Hazrat Ibrahim, when Allah appeared in his dream and ordered him to sacrifice what he loves the most.
At the time, it was his son he loved the most and following Allah’s orders he was ready to sacrifice his son. Pleased with such dedication, Allah then ordered him to offer any animal as a sacrifice instead. That was the beginning of the Bakr-id festival. [from SANJAY AGARWAL]
