GANGTOK, 04 Sept [IPR]: The first house completed under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Mission was inaugurated by area MLA, the RMDD Minister CB Karki, at Middle Kolthang ward, Lingmo-Kolthang GPU under Rangang-Yangang constituency yesterday.
The Minister formally inaugurated the house and handed over the new house to the beneficiary, Lakpa Tshering Bhutia, in the presence of ADC (Development) South, DK Pradhan, BDO Yangang, Mahesh Sharma, AE Yangang HP Sharma, PI Yangang, DB Chettri, APO, Novin Sharma, Panchayats and local gentry.
The house was constructed by the BRHCC in view the economic condition of the beneficiary. The CMRHM sponsors pucca house conversions for all Sikkimese still residing in kutcha houses here. The final aim is to make Sikkim a kutcha house free State by 2015.
At a function held at the Gram Prashasan Kendra, Lingmo-Kolthang GPU, the Minister also handed over allotment orders and first installments of Rs 50,000 each to the beneficiaries of Upper, Middle and Lower Kolthang wards of Lingmo Kolthang GPU and Upper and Lower Tokdey wards of Niya Mangzing GPU.
Crossing the Mangzing slide zone on foot, the Minister and the entire team reached BAC Yangang for the afternoon programme which was held for the beneficiaries of GPUs on the far end of the Mangzing slide. Altogether, allotment orders for 37 beneficiaries and first installment for 58 beneficiaries amounting to a total of Rs. 29 lakh was disbursed through account payee cheques in the name of the respective beneficiaries.
With this disbursement, the total number of allotments issued for GPUs of Rangang-Yangang Constituency under Yangang BAC comes to 95. The first lot of allotment orders had already been disbursed in May.
Addressing both the functions, the Minister highlighted the achievements and development works taken up at Yangang in particular and Sikkim as a whole since 1994 under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling. He appealed to everybody to utilize the opportunities provided by the Government so as to become self reliant.
On CMRHM, he urged all beneficiaries to properly utilize the installments received and directed Panchayats and officials for strict supervision till the completion of the houses. He also appealed all to maintain peace and tranquility and not get misled by rumours.
ADC (Dev) South, D K Pradhan spoke on the farsightedness of the CM who has provided this opportunity to own a pucca house by such genuine beneficiaries and appealed all to ensure quality construction work.
BDO Yangang, Mahesh Sharma highlighted the procedures followed for the implementation of the scheme and sought cooperation from all so as to make the Mission a success. AE Yangang, H P Sharma deliberated on the technical aspects of the construction.
Both the functions began with observance of two minutes silence for South District Zilla Panchayat Adhyaksha, Late Ravi Chandra Gurung, on his untimely demise, the release futher mentions. He was elected from Yangang Sripatam Zilla Territorial Constituency.
The Minister also paid a surprise visit to Lingmo Sr. Sec. School and interacted with the Principal and teachers. On the way, the Minister alongwith his team inspected Vertiver (VS-9) plantation done at Mangzing slide taken up under MGNREGA and expressed satisfaction over the progress made, the release adds.
