GANGTOK, 08 Sept: Denzong Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd convened its IXth Annual General Meeting at Janta Bhawan here on 06 Sept under the chairmanship of its Chairman Puran Kumar Gurung. The meeting was attended by the Board of Directors, shareholders, Registrar Co-operation, Additional Director, AH &VS, Additional Director, Horticulture, officers from Cooperation Department and DACS Ltd. On the occasion, bonus in the form of price difference amounting to Rs 30,50,714 was also disbursed among members for marketing local broilers during 2010-11.
The meeting began with a welcome address by the Managing Director who highlighted some major achievements of the Society in 2010-11 when it set new records in marketing of local produce and registered its best performance.
The Chairman, Mr Gurung then presented the Annual Report, Audited Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Accounts for the year 2010-2011, Business Development Plan and Budget Estimate for 2011-2012 and declaration of 7% dividends to all its shareholders.
During 2010-11, the Society marketed local broiler chickens worth Rs 3.56 crore. From April to August 2011 alone, DACS has marketed 2,03,482 kgs of local broilers and made payments to the tune of Rs 1,57,30,870 to local farmers, a release informs. The Chairman informed that the Society has been marketing locally grown fruits and vegetables too.
Lastly, the Chairman expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for his “valuable guidance, support and patronage”.
Similarly, he also thanked Minister, Cooperation, RB Subba, Secretary, Cooperation and other officials for their support and guidance to the Society. He also commended the hard work put in by the Managing Director and entire staff of DACS Ltd.
Also on the day, Sadam Turuk Paiyong Poultry Growers Cooperative Society was given the Best Achievement of the Year Award for achieving highest marketing turnover of Rs 82.50 lakh with DACS, the release mentions.
Similarly, four employees of the Society - Arun Nepal, Pema Bhutia, M. Chakraborty and S.K. Dhimman were awarded trophies in recognition of their hard work and dedication towards the Society.
The release further informs that the AGM constituted a new Board of Directors, electing Chewang Bhutia, Arjun Bhujel, Dass Tamang, Bharat Subedi and Jigmee Pintso Bhutia to it for a period of three years. The Chairman welcomed the newly elected Board of Directors and also offered mementos to all Board of Directors and officials as a mark of appreciation.
The Registrar Cooperation and Additional Director, AH & VS addressed the AGM and provided clarification on several issues. The Member Societies during interactions provided valuable suggestions and extended their appreciation towards DACS’s endeavors. The vote of thanks was proposed by General Manager, DACS Ltd, Arun Nepal.
