USFC draws its Second Division I-League debut


GANGTOK: A brace by NS Manju helped United Sikkim Football Club [USFC] draw its first match of the second division I-League Thursday morning at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Guwahati.
The first match of the I-League between Bhaichung Bhutia’s USFC and Shillong based Langsing Football Club finished 2-2.
Bhaichung Bhutia and Rennedy Singh missed their club’s first game as both of them are recovering from injuries. They are likely to join the team in later matches.

Playing an attacking game, India international, NS Manju gave an early lead to USFC in the 6th minute of the match but this was soon equalized.
Within ten minutes of his first goal, Manju scored again in the 16th minute and the first half concluded with the lead with USFC.
USFC was still playing with the lead in early minutes of the second half but in the 65th minute the equalizer was scored by of Langsing FC. No more goals were scored.
Speaking to reporters here today over the phone, the senior manager USFC, Arjun Rai, mentioned that the team played very well and displayed an aggressive game but the players were not able to score the winning goal.
The squad in the debut match included Nim Tshering and Tenzing Tsephel of Sikkim and featured only one foreign player, Johnny Menyongar.
Mr Rai mentioned that the team is now all set to take its second opponent, NISA, on 04 April.
