GANGTOK: JNV-Shelapthang, North Sikkim, celebrated its 14th annual day today with District Collector [North Sikkim], TN Kazi, who is also the Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee, as chief guest while Deputy Director, HRDD, North, MK Gurung and PTC Member, Sang Doma Bhutia, were present as guests of honour.
Principal, T Gopalakrishna, presented the annual report highlighting various achievements of the Vidyalaya, informs a press release.
The chief guest gave away the prizes and certificates to all the best performers in academics, sports and games and cultural events. Yogmaya Mishra was declared the school topper in academics, Kenzang Topgyal of class VIII was adjudged as the best class captain while Sanjay Thakur, Suren Biswakarma, and Sonam Doma were given prizes for their outstanding performance in all activities, the release informs.
The chief guest, in his closing remarks, recollected his association with JNV as the chairman of VMC. He emphasized that quality education is the need of the hour in Sikkim and that JNV, North Sikkim, was emerging as an educational hub of substance.
He appealed to the students to take advantage of the facilities extended by the Vidyalaya and appreciated the initiative of Science and Math teachers of setting up Junior Science and Maths lab, the release adds.
