GANGTOK, 28 Apr: Mr. Sikkim 2014, Arun Gurung on Saturday contributed his prize money to an orphanage in Mangan in North Sikkim.
Mr. Sikkim handed the cash award he recently won in the competition to the caretaker of the orphanage Tarcon Lee, Keepu Lepcha. The home presently houses 35 children.
“There are so many people in this world that need care and support, I am so happy to visit the shelter home which is doing a wonderful job. This contribution is just to motivate her,” said the 38-year-old Mr. Sikkim who also spent some time with the children.
In the year 2011 as well, Mr. Gurung had donated the cash prize after winning his first Mr Sikkim title to Sita Panchawati Ashram located at Ranka.
“We are very happy that Mr Gurung visited our shelter home, May god bless him with more success in the future,” said the caretaker of the shelter home.
