2 cases of assault in South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 27 Apr: Two separate cases have been registered at Namchi Police Station on incidents of assault. In both the cases, the victims sustained injuries grievous enough to require getting admitted in hospital. They are both under treatment at the District Hospital here at present.
In the first case, which took place at around 9:30 p.m. on 26 April at Upper Ghurpisey, 23 year old Ashish Gurung was attacked by a group of 7 to 8 miscreants with rods and stones while he was asleep at home at Upper Ghurpisey.
His father, Janga Bahadur Gurung, has lodged an FIR at Namchi PS detailing that the miscreants entered the house breaking the window and door and assaulted his son. One Tshering Topgay Bhutia of Ghurpisey has been taken into custody in connection with the assault.
The victim has alleged that the attackers were SDF supporters.
In the second case reported from Mamring today, one Robin Rai was attacked by miscreants allegedly over a scrap deal. Two accused - Anil Pradhan and Mahindra Bomzon - were arrested in relation to the case. Meanwhile, a counter FIR was lodged by Anil Pradhan following one Dattaram Sharma of Mamring was arrested.
