ATTC celebrates annual function

GANGTOK, 28 Apr: ATTC Bardang celebrated its Annual Function on 26 April marking 15 years in service since its establishment in 1999. The chief guest of the occasion was Secretary HRDD, Thomas Chandy accompanied by other delegates of HRDD along with distinguished guests such as Principal of sister-college, CCCT Chisopani as well as Principal and faculty members of various nearby schools and institutes.
A press release informs that local schools such as Rangpo Sr Sec School, Middle Camp Sec School, Duga Sec School amongst others participated in the two days of festivity where events like Inter School Quiz competition, Dance competition, Painting Competition and Talent Show were organized by event coordinator, D B Gadaily. The winners were presented with trophies and certificates by the chief guest at the end of the function.
Commemorating 15 years of service, senior ATTC faculty members were felicitated with plaques for Excellence in Leadership and Outstanding Service as they marked their decade plus service to the Institute this year. Department of Mathematics, Manashi Bhattachajee was felicitated with the “Best Teacher” award for the year 2014 and Sangken Rai, final year student of Diploma in Manufacturing Technology was felicitated with “Student of the Year” award, for being a three-time college topper, securing 91% in the last semester examinations.
With regards to the placement of final year students, ATTC has witnessed a record placement this year with 15 final year students placed in Hitachi Automotive Systems Ltd, which includes a 3-month training in Japan, 71 students placed in Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd, 29 students placed in Gabriel India Ltd, 2 students placed in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd in their Research & Development wing, which has happened for the first time on campus. And finally with the recent placement of four students in Harley-Davidson Motors India namely Netesh Bhattarai, Sangken Rai, Deepak Kumar Sharma and Sushil Kumar Jonko, the placement record stands at 76% till date. The placement procedure will carry on till the end of the semester (June-July) with a hope to achieve 100% placement for our final year students.
Speaking of the Institute’s Achievements till date, Lochan Adhikari remarked about the leap of progress made by ATTC from a humble fledgling institute back in 1999 with a handful of staff members and 24 students to now becoming a fully-functional Institution which houses more than 600 students on roll. ATTC is also proud to be one of the first polytechnics in Sikkim to be ISO certified in the year 2008. With AICTE approval of its diploma courses, ATTC has benefitted several AICTE funded schemes such as upgradation of laboratories to latest technologies, faculty development programs and also the initiative to start two new courses under the tagline of Community College, which is essentially a platform for local people in various stages of their lives to join the course and at the end of each year will be awarded certificates equivalent to respective grades for employment. Currently, the two new courses underway at ATTC are Automobile Engineering and Retail Management.
“On this occasion of 15th Annual Function, we would also like to acknowledge the founding fathers of ATTC, one of them being former Director – Technical Education, Tsegyal Tashi whose vision has brought us so far till here and call on the support of all stakeholders to take the Institute further to limitless heights from here and beyond”, the release mentions.
