Final training and briefing held for presiding and polling officials

THE FIRST VOTES GET CAST AS OFFICERS ON ELECTION DUTY SUBMIT POSTAL BALLOTS
GANGTOK, 08 Apr: The third and final round of training and briefing to the Presiding Officers and Polling Officers I was held at Chintan Bhawan today. Around 500 state officials [250 presiding officers/ 250 polling officers] received the training and final briefing, informed KL Lepcha [SDM, Gangtok and Assistant Returning Officer], while speaking to NOW! today. On 09 April, the same will be provided to the Polling Officers II, III, IV and V, he added.
The Presiding Officers and the Polling Officers who will be going to their respective polling stations on 11 April were also issued appointment orders and identity cards for their respective polling stations, the SDM, Gangtok stated and added that they were also issued postal ballot papers and many of them also cast their votes today.
The ballot boxes had been provided for casting of votes, one for the Lok Sabha seat and the other for the general Assembly seat, he informed.
Most of them will be casting their votes today and for those who cannot do so they can do it on Wednesday but even if some are not able to cast their votes during these two days then we have opened a facilitation centre at Tashi Namgyal Academy [TNA], where the left out officials can go cast their votes till 12 April, he informed.
The Central Observers also visited and witnessed the training and visited the facilitation center for casting of votes here at Chintan Bhawan and were impressed by the work done.
The training and briefing of the presiding officers and the polling officers was conducted by KL Lepcha [SDM, Gangtok], Roshni Rai [ADC] and Karma Benpo [ADC].
297 Parliamentary votes and 296 Assembly votes through postal ballots were cast today.
