NAMCHI, 07 Apr [IPR]: The third and the final round of proactive training on the conduct of mock poll and sealing of EVMs for the Polling and Presiding Officers was conducted at the Namchi Community Hall today by the ADC Dev, Benu Gurung and DPO South, Yangchen Tamang. The ADC (Dev) briefed the trainees regarding their roles and responsibilities during election duty.
The latest instructions received from the ECI with the list of alternate documents for the voters, Absentee, Shifted and Dead voters list, voters pledge and many more were illustrated to the trainees in depth. The Presiding Officer and the Polling officers were also informed about the facilitation center which has been set up at the conference hall of DAC whereby the voting compartments have been put up for which an officer of Gazetted rank will be present to certify the declaration of the voter said ADC Dev. DPO South demonstrated the comprehensive process of the EVM during the training.
As informed by the RO South, Prabhakar Verma the entire process of postal ballot voting will be videographed by the District Election Office South and the candidates alongside the election agents will be present in the center to observe the polling process of the postal ballot. Mr Verma further added that on 10, 11 and 12 April the collection of the postal ballot will be set up at the collection center in the Control Room at Government Senior Secondary School Namchi and the nodal officer in-charge of the collection center of the Postal Ballot is SDM Jorethang, TD Denzongpa. He added that the officers, staff engaged in South District Election and Presiding & the Polling Officers who attended the training program today cast their postal ballot votes today in this center.
In addition to this, the RO informed that the ECI in its order dated 02 April 2014 has specified that the alternate photo identity document of the electors on the day of Poll in order to prevent impersonation of the electors and to facilitate their identification.
The list of alternate documents are as follows:
i) Passport; ii) Driving license; iii) Services Identity cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt PSUs/Public Ltd Companies; iv) Passbooks with photograph issued by bank/post office; v) Pan Card; vi) Aadhar Card; vii) Smart card issued by RGI under NPR; viii) MNREGA job card; ix) Health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Minister of Labor ; x) Pension Document with photograph and; xi) Authenticated photo Voter slip issued by the Election Machinery.
