R&D plants & cleans in Namchi

NAMCHI, 17 June: A daylong plantation cum cleanliness drive was carried today by the Roads & Bridges Department in colaboration with the Forest Department at Kamdaley along Namchi Helipad road as part of the Paryavaran Mahotsav initiatives.
A garden was also developed at the site.
The team was lead by SE [South] Mohan Gurung, Joint Director [Forest] MR Rai, DE-Roads Bildat Rai, AE –Roads  K Rajalim, ROs Namchi Tseten Lepcha and Nishant Yonzon. The drive was participated by all the JEs and staff of the Roads & Bridges Department here. Lakpa Sherpa, SE-Tourism, was also present.
Saplings of Rani Chaanp, Thuja, Azelia and Lalupatey were planted today. The Department has also taken the responsibility of post-plantation care and in-charges were appointed for the gardens. They will visit the spot twice a week and report the condition of the planted saplings to the seniors.
In the meantime, a new strategy has been adopted wherein the responsibility for the upkeep of saplings planted by an officer will also be handed to the new officer on transfer.
