Power plants in Jorethang

GANGTOK, 19 June: As part of the Paryavaran Mahotsav being celebrated all over the state from 15-30 June 2014, a Plantation and Cleanliness Drive was carried out at the Energy & Power Office Complex at Jorethang today.
As per a press release, all the officers and staff led by Superintending Engineer, Jigmey Namgyal, took part in this programme. 100 saplings were planted within the Power Colony Complex. The plants included Jarul, Litchi, Bougainvillea, Lampatay, Raj Brikshya and Chaanp.
The forest department was represented by Head Forest Guard, KB Gurung and IB Gurung along with Forest Guards, Kharki M Gurung and Loden Tsering Bhutia.
The officers and staff also undertook a cleanliness drive of the entire colony. A cleanliness drive was also initiated by the Engineers and staff of Melli Energy & Power Office at the 132/66/11 KV Melli Power Substation in coordination with the representatives of the Forest officials of Melli. Similar drives will be carried out at the Namchi Office too, the release mentions.
