MGNREGA receives horticultural direction at Chuba Phong

NAMCHI, 18 June: Cardamom plantation works taken up under MGNREGA in convergence with Horticulture & Cash Crop Department were launched on Tuesday at Chuba Phong GPU under Namthang Gram Vikas Kendra.
The programme was attended by South Zilla Upadakshya Devi Maya Baraily, ADC (Dev.) Namchi Benu Gurung, Joint Director [Horticulture], GVA Namthang, HDO, ADPC South District and other field functionaries along with the beneficiaries.
Under this convergence programme, cardamom saplings, organic manure, pesticide/ bio agent and vermin-compost are being provided by the Horticulture Department and the labour to clear land, pit digging and pit filling, planting/ staking and for irrigation in winters is being provided under MGNREGA.
A total of 41 beneficiaries are covered at Upper Chuba Ward.
The scheme also involves maintenance of the planted saplings for the next two years.

The beneficiaries were also provided orientation training on plantation techniques by the Joint Director Horticulture which was later followed by interaction of the farmers with the field functionaries of HCCD.
