NAMCHI, 10 Feb: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs
is holding a three-day selection trial for footballers under the age of 12
years for admission into Namchi Sports Hostel, South Sikkim under the ‘Search
for more Bhaichungs’ scheme. The trials will be held on 12, 13 and 14 February
2014 at Singhithang Ground, Namchi.
Joint Director, Sports Department, Kamal Chettri said that
‘Search for more Bhaichungs’ is a scheme envisioned by the Chief Minister Pawan
Chamling to spot upcoming football talents and nurture them at Namchi Sports
Hostel.
He named some products of the hostel who have made a name
for themselves like Sanju Pradhan, Nirmal Chettri, Asish Chettri, Uttam Rai,
Nim Tshering Lepcha and others who are playing for renowned clubs of the
country. He further urged the interested candidates to report at the said venue
at around 9.30 AM with an attested copy of Birth Certificate and Father's COI.
The government will provide free education to the selected
candidates under the scheme 'Search For More Bhaichungs' at Namchi Sports
Hostel, he added.
