GANGTOK, 08 Nov: About 400 children and teachers from all over the country are expected to participate in the six-day 40th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition at Epica Garden, Saramsa, from 11 to 16 November.
A press release informs that about 185 exhibits will be displayed at different stalls at Epica Garden while 50 children from different schools Sikkim will be participating in the exhibition.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on National Education Day on 11 November by the President of India. The exhibition aims to encourage, popularize and inculcate scientific temper among the children of the country.
This year’s theme for the exhibition is “Science and Society” and it will focus on the utility of science to solve contemporary problems faced by mankind. It is an opportunity for children to showcase their talents in science
and mathematics and their applications in different areas related to our everyday life.
In the run up to the National Exhibition, each State and UT organized a State level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition from which the best exhibits have been selected for display at the National exhibition. The State level Science exhibition in Sikkim was organized at Palzor Stadium in the first week of October 2013.
The exhibition will be open to school children and visitors free of cost up to 16 November. The exhibition will be closed on 13 Novemberas the participants will be taken for an excursion in and around Gangtok.
