SNT launches Online Bus Ticketing System

GANGTOK, 17 Feb: Taking a much-needed step forward Sikkim National Transport has now launched an Online Bus Ticketing System jointly developed and implemented by Information Technology Department and the Transport Department. The launch today was attended by Transport Secretary, Tsegyal Tashi, IT Secretary, Rajesh Verma and officials of both the departments.
Initially, this service has been started with the AC buses of SNT plying between Gangtok and Siliguri. The service will be starting from 24 February. Through this service, a person can book tickets online and also choose the seat as per their convenience. There is also the provision to cancel the ticket.
During the launch, the Transport Secretary shared that this was a humble beginning and an effort towards the modernization of SNT.  He added that SNT was committed to provide continuous, safe and convenient services to the people and plans to come up with better services in a phase wise manner.
Speaking on other future plans, Mr Tashi informed that in the new phase, the city runners in Gangtok will be enhanced with the introduction of better quality buses in Gangtok and in other cities of the state as well.
The IT Secretary said that the online ticketing system is a milestone for SNT in providing better services to the people of Sikkim. He also briefly mentioned about the various services and initiatives of the IT Department. Mr. Verma informed that the IT Department will soon be introducing online application for Inner Line Permit.
