GANGTOK, 17 Feb: The State Bank of Sikkim [SBI], MG Marg, Gangtok opened its first "E-Corner" here in the capital today. The e-corner has three ATMs.
The e-corner was inaugurated by Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, L.H.O., Kolkata, Sunil Srivastava while Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Gangtok, AK Yadav was present as the chief guest. Mr Srivastava dedicated the “e-corner” as a 24X12 alternate banking channel to the people of Sikkim.
Mr Srivastava also handed over a cheque of Rs 11,30,000 to Captain S. Yongda, Chief Executive of Mayul Liang Trust, West Sikkim for a School Bus and a cheque of Rs 3,51,000 to Bhaichung Bhutia for the Indian Football Foundation as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Bank.
Mr Srivastava said that the State Bank of India has been undertaking community services under the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative by keeping aside 1% of the Bank's profit (which is being enhanced to 2%) towards community services throughout the country. He applauded the efforts of the Mayul Liang Trust in the field of education for the underprivileged.
He also commended the efforts of Bhaichung Bhutia in character building of the young minds through his initiative to train the younger generation through his Football Training Camps being organised in the hills. On this occasion the team members of the under-14 age group who had reached the semi-final in the all India under-14 Football Team were also felicitated with gifts.
Mr Srivastava also announced that the Bank will start Sikkim Snow Lion Rolling Trophy in the coming years. Both Captain Yongda and Bhaichung Bhutia thanked SBI for their support.
