BJP challenges all-round development claims of the Govt

GANGTOK, 27 June: The Sikkim-BJP has claimed that despite the rosy picture being projected by the State government about all round development in Sikkim, the villages remain underdeveloped.  Defining development in terms of availability of basic facilities like roads, water, health and education for the masses, the BJP has alleged that all of these are lacking in wide swathes of the state.
Speaking to media persons today, the state BJP president, Padam Bahadur Chettri said that the Chief Minister, as the head of the state, should take responsibility for the non-completion of development works, instead of just blaming the officials.
Referring to the ongoing state-wide padhyatra of the BJP, he said that during their village-to-village tour, the party functionaries have received a good number of complaints from the villagers. These include complaints of non-existence of necessary infrastructure and deficient services in the field of road connectivity, drinking water, health and education, added Mr. Chhettri.
