GANGTOK, 27 April: Sai Bhakts from all parts of the capital congregated in large numbers at MG Marg today to take part in the “Prathna Sabha” held there to coincide with the funeral of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi.
The prayer congregation was organized by the Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Sangathan, Gangtok and North District, and Gangtok Civil Society and was also attended by HRDD Minister, NK Pradhan and Gangtok MLA, Dorjee Namgyal, who is also the chairman of the Dharma Nilayam Construction Committee, and many other dignitaries.

“Akhand Bhajans have been going on at Sai Mandir in Balwakhani since 24 April and will conclude this evening,” informed Passang Sherpa, the District President, Sri Sathya Sai Sewa Sangathan, Gangtok and North District.
While the Prathna Sabha at MG Marg started Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. and concluded at 5 p.m., upon its conclusion, a candlelight rally was taken out from the Titanic Park walking up to the Sai Mandir in Balwakhani.
“Since this is a religious ceremony we did not invite anyone, but as you can see people from all walks of life have come to take part in this Prathna Sabha, along with most of the associations and non governmental organizations, he pointed out.
“This is not a Shok Sabha [condolence meeting] but a Prathna Sabha,” he further clarified, “because Sri Sathya Sai Baba is not dead and has only left his human form and we are praying for him to come back as he had said he will be reborn as Prema Sai in his next avatar.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba, it may be recalled, had passed away on Sunday
