Chakung panchayats demand RB Subba’s removal from Cabinet

GANGTOK: MB Rai, panchayat secretary of Chakung Gram Panchayat Unit and Dorji Tshering Bhutia, Panchayat member of Chumbung GPU under Soreng-Chakung constituency in West Sikkim have demanded the immediate expulsion of their area MLA, RB Subba, from his ministerial post alleging that the Minister was the “main conspirator” behind the several incidents of violence reported in the recent past in the constituency.
Through a press release issued today, the Panchayat duo claimed that as Panchayat members, they were witness to the anti-development, anti-people, inhuman and anti-social activities in the area, who, they contend, are backed by the area MLA. The Panchayat duo have condemned and protested the “undemocratic activities”.
Detailing 11 such incidents, including that of Singling, after Mr. Subba was elected the area MLA around two years back, they alleged that all the accused persons, who were arrested and released on bail in these incidents were close to Mr. Subba.

Requesting the Chief Minister to immediately oust Mr. Subba from Cabinet, they said, “After ousting him from the post, appropriate legal action should be initiated against him.”
“If not”, they warn, “In the event of any untoward incident in the future, the Chief Minister himself will be held responsible.” Introducing themselves as the ruling party’s Panchayats, they state that such deeds of the Minister had also defamed their image in public.
