GANGTOK, 18 Nov: Members of the Sanskar Bharati-Sikkim Chapter, along with the contingent from Sikkim for the upcoming ‘Sharhad Ko Swaranjali’ programme, which is a mega cultural event to be held at Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar from 22-24 November 2013, led by the advisor of the organisation, Kiran Rasaily called on the Governor of Sikkim, Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan today.
A press release from the Raj Bhawan informs that members of the organisation apprised the Governor about the invitation received from Sanskar Bharati-Poorvottar, an NGO, to participate in the said mega cultural programme at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The said NGO works for the promotion of art and culture of various ethnic communities in India.
Around 55 participants under various categories are participating in the said event. In the singing category, Nirmal Subba will be presenting the song ‘Aye mere Vatan ke Logon’; in the painting category, Passang Sherpa and Dhiraj Pradhan; and under the folk dance category, Ujjal Kala Kendra, Tadong, Ekta Dance Academy Tadong, Denzong Phoenix Indira Bye Pass and Untied Progressive Organisation of Sikkim.
The Governor spoke on the importance of their participation and as a mark of encouragement handed over a cheque of Rs 10,000 to the participants, the release informs.
All the members expressed gratitude to the Governor for his kind gesture and for having spared his valuable time.
