NAMCHI, 23 Jan: Namchi Police have managed to nab the culprit behind the car theft that occurred on 15 Jan at Dabuwha near Namchi. SP South, Manoj Tiwari while talking to this correspondent informed that, one Mahindra Rai alias Salim Rai, a resident of Purano Namchi has been arrested while the car was recovered from Gyalshing.
Acting on information from sources, the police picked up the accused from his residence last evening. During interrogation, the accused revealed that seeing the car parked with its keys left inside by the owner, he drove the car towards Gyalshing via Sikip. When he heard that the police were on the case he abandoned the car at Gyalshing and returned to Namchi.
The police however are not convinced with this story and suspect that there might be others involved as well. The SP assured that the case will be solved soon.
It may be recalled here that the Maruti Alto belongs to Prem Nath Dewan of Dabuwha who filed a complaint at Namchi Police station following which PI Namchi, CB Basnet had started investigation.
