Peddler uses 12 year old to mule drugs

GANGTOK, 13 Dec: A new aspect of the villainy of those dealing in the already immoral peddling of substance of abuse came to light yesterday when a drug bust at Melli check-post revealed that peddlers were no using minors as ‘mules’ to smuggle contraband into Sikkim.

The Melli  police confiscated a large amount of substances of abuse from a 12 year old on Monday. The person to whom the substances belonged managed to give the police the slip.
According to reports, personnel at the Melli checkpost had intercepted a boy of about 12 years of age at around 10:30 p.m. on 12 December. He was carrying a small bag, which upon checking, led to the discovery of 98 tablets of N-10 and 288 tablets of Spasmo Proxyvon, both, much-abused prescription drugs in Sikkim.
On being asked about the consignment, the boy reportedly informed the cops that it belonged to one Govind of Majhigaon, Jorethang who had asked him to bring the bag across the Melli checkpost. He was waiting on the Sikkim side. The police gave chase to Govind till Melli bazaar but he managed to get away. A case has been booked under the SAD Act, 2005 and the boy, also reported to be of Majhigaon, handed over to his parents.
