Central Damage Assessment team tours West Sikkim

GYALSHING, 10 Oct [IPR]:  A 9-member Central Damage Assessment team headed by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI, Shambhu Singh visited earthquake affected places around West Sikkim today.
The team was divided into two groups to assess the damages caused to the houses, livestock, roads, water supply, power and agriculture in west Sikkim. One group consisting of representatives from Ministry of Health - Dr. Swasti Charan, National Disaster Response Force, CO Suk Dev Ray, Rural Management Development’s DK Singh, Ministry of Agriculture’s Mr. Barepate along with the SDM Gyalshing and district officials toured Chumbong, District Hospital, Gyalshing, Kabirthang, Tashiding monastery, Chongrang PMGSY road, Legship and Naya Bazaar.
The second group consisting of representatives from Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Singh, Ministry of Finance, YC Sharma, Ministry of Drinking Water, PP Nagrath, Nand Kumar, Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Mr. Rajput, Ministry of Power accompanied by ADC West and State and district officials visited Pemangyatse monastery, Pelling, Khorong Landslide, Bongten-Sapung, Dentam, Ringchenpong, Reshi and Naya Bazaar.
The team also visited Relief camps and interacted with the affected families.
The ADC (W), AP Rai, submitted a detailed report of the damage caused by the earthquake in west district to the central team and the tentative requisition for the pre-fabricated structure for schools, ICDS centres and community centres. [from SIMON SUBBA, DIO, In-Charge, West Sikkim]
