GANGTOK, 26 Aug: The Sikkim Democratic Front today expelled 17 office bearers, including several panchayat members, from the party. A press release issued by the SDF general secretary [administration], SK Pradhan, informs that the 17 have been expelled by the party president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, invoking section 1, clause k of the party constitution.
The seventeen SDF members expelled today, are: Nakul Das Rai of Ranipool; NK Gurung, the vice-president of the party’s Richenpong constituency level committee; Karnamaya Rai, panchayat representative from Kamling ward of Rinchenpong; Ashok Kumar Pradhan, panchayat from Hee-Martam ward of Maneybong-Dentam constituency; Mahendra Pradhan of Hee-Martam; Dhanroop Subba of Hee-Patal; Rajesh Tamang, panchayat secretary, Majuwa ward of Rinchenpong; Gopal Gurung, panchayat vice-president, Budiakhop under Daramdin constituency; DK Gurung, panchayat member, Budiakhop; Topzang Bhutia of Hee-Patal; Jeet Hang Subba, Panchayat Secretary, Khanisherbong under Rinchenpong constituency; Peter Lepcha of Kamling; Basudev Sharma, of Aho-Yangtam; YT Lepcha, vice-convenor, SDF Youth Front, Nimtar; Bhuwandas Ranpal, panchayat member, Turung-Daragaon ward under Namcheybong constituency; Buddha Lama of Rangpo Bazaar and Purna Karki of Sadam.
Also today, the SDF president appointed four new members to the party’s working committee, the release informs, they are: Kedarnath Sharma of Padamchey, M. Prasad Sharma of Aho-Yangthang, SB Tamang of Kateng and MK Basnet of Samsing.
