A group of six entrepreneurs led by Sonam Tshering Tamang, MD, Kokkivo Clothing and founder Pakyong Jankalyan Sangh, and Bhupendra Gurung, CEO and Chief Editor of The Accelerator, called on Governor Shriniwas Patil at Raj Bhavan on 09 September. An official press communiqué from Raj Bhawan informs that the team briefed the Governor about the Red Panda Day scheduled to be held on 19 September at Pakyong.
Mr. Tamang of Kokkivo Clothing further apprised the Governor that a month-long event in collaboration with the Forest Department was already underway across the State scheduled to come to close on 19 September. The principal objective of the event, as envisaged by the organisers, is to educate students and youth about the nature and habitat of the endangered Red Panda species which also happens to be the State animal, the release adds.
The Governor lauded the initiative and called for wider support and participation from the youth and students in the month long event, the release states, adding that he has also appealed to the people and nature lovers of Sikkim to come forward for the cause of preservation and promotion of the animal in its natural habitat.
