Sikkim bodybuilder in top-10 at national c’ship

GANGTOK, 09 June: Tika Ram Pradhan made it to the top-10 in the 60 kg category at the recently concluded 54th Senior National Body Building & Women’s Fitness Championship held at Aurangabad in Maharashtra from 21 to 24 May. With this he has also become the first Sikkimese bodybuilder to figure in the top 10 of the prestigious senior national competition.
Tika Ram was part of a three-member Sikkim State Body Building Association [SSBBA] team which represented Sikkim in the competition. The team also had the reigning Mr Sikkim, Arun Gurung and former Mr Sikkim Navin Pradhan. The team was accompanied by Robin Pradhan as manager.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, 30-year-old Tika Ram said that it took dedication, hard work and sacrifice to make it to the top 10 of the championship.
“This achievement has encouraged me to work harder to win the title next time. My ultimate goal is to win the Mr India title,” he added.
Tika Ram started bodybuilding in the year 2010 at Rhenock Health Club with Navin Pradhan as his trainer.
SSBBA chief coach, IB Gurung lauded Tika Ram’s performance in the competition. He stated that this achievement is an encouragement for other bodybuilders to work harder to be successful in their bodybuilding career.
He informed that SSBBA has been working hard to organize the Eastern Indian Bodybuilding & Women Fitness Championship in the state in 2015. The state had hosted this championship for the first time in 1997.
