WHERE THERE IS SMOKE…

A fire broke out in a home at Kazitar Namchi this morning at around 8:30 a.m., reportedly when the domestic help accidentally dropped a kerosene stove on the floor. PI, Namchi Fire Station IK Rai, informs that the fire burst into a major conflagration with even kerosene stored in jar catching fire. Since the house is not directly accessible by road, the firefighters reached the spot carrying the firefighting equipment. The immediate concern was to remove the LPG cylinder which was overheating and at risk of exploding. The firefighters at the spot displayed quick thinking and brave instincts in removing the cylinder in time and a major disaster was averted. The firefighters were assisted by police personnel and after around 20 minutes of firefighting, the fire was contained and stopped from spreading out beyond the kitchen. The damage is being estimated at more than a lakh.
