Four-day residential training for cooperative society managers

GANGTOK, 15 Nov [IPR]: Four-day residential training programme on preparation of Business Development Plan and Review of Common Accounting System for the Managers of Multipurpose Cooperative Societies [M.P.C.S Ltd] was held at the Conference Hall of Sahakari Bhawan, Tadong Gangtok from 07 to 11 Nov.
The training was inaugurated by IAS, Secretary Cooperation, AK Chettri and coordinated by Additional Registrar, CN Khanal and A.R.C.S Cooperation Department, KP Sharma. Resource persons, RL Sharma, Bivas Lamichaney and Rinchen Ongmu from Sikkim State Cooperation Banks imparted the training to 27 Managers of Multipurpose Cooperative Societies from all the four districts of Sikkim.
With the implementation of the Vaidanathan Committee Reports for recapitalization and legal reforms on the Cooperative Credit Institution the above training was necessary for standardization of the working of MPCS in the State.
During the four-day training the duties and responsibilities of Managers, maintenance of book of accounts as per Common Accounting System, proceeding for holding annual general meeting diversification of business activities, flow of credit to the members and preparation of authentic business development plan were taught.
In the last session of the training programme, Dr. Om Prakash and Sanjay Joglekar, A.G.M from NABARD highlighted about the implementation of the Vaidanathan Committee Reports for the development of rural economy through Cooperative institutions. The training was sponsored by NABARD R.O, Gangtok.
Five batches have undergone such training held in SIRD, Karfectar, South Sikkim during July-August 2011 wherein 132 Managers were trained. Thus far, a total of 159 Managers have been trained out of the 169 in the state.
