175 voters from Khop protest shifting of names from voter list

DC ASSURES TO CORRECT VOTER LIST BEFORE NEXT ELECTIONS
NAMCHI: 175 voters of Khop ward under Rangang-Yangang constituency have expressed shocked and dissatisfaction on the shifting of their names to Barfung constituency without their knowledge.
Pointing out that it takes a very tedious and complicated process to shift names from the voter list even when specific requests are made, they wonder how the present movement happened without the conduction of a gram sabha or even informing the affected voters about it.

They have alleged that this shifting was an attack on their human rights and have demanded a proper investigation into the matter. In a press communiqué circulated to the media here, a section of the affected voters have accused two persons from their area of having intentionally engineered the moving out of their names from the voter list.
When contacted, the DC [South], AK Singh, (both constituencies fall in South district), informed that his office had received the said complaint during the last panchayat bye-elections when the affected voters had learnt of the switch.
The DC assured that this will be rectified and that by the next elections all 175 voters will be brought back to their original constituency.
The DC also informed that an enquiry order has been issued on the matter, hinting at a possible oversight by a data entry operator. Following the enquiry and hearing, necessary action will be taken as per the law, he assured.
