GANGTOK, 04 March: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sikkim-unit president, Padam Bahadur Chettri, has lashed out against the Sikkim Democratic Party and its president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, of inconsistency in mourning the 18 September earthquake calamity. This, in criticism of the grand foundation day celebrations laid out by the ruling party over the weekend despite the State having scaled down and even called off other celebrations since the earthquake in mourning of the scale of devastation. Accusing the SDF party of indecent extravagance in these trying times, Mr. Chettri has alleged that this was being done to divert the attention of the people from corruption and has called on people to remain “vigilant and take correct action without being influenced by the corrupt rulers”.
