Korean paragliding team flies in Sikkim

GANGTOK, 25 Jan: An eight member Korean paragliding expedition team was in Sikkim from 14 to 20 Jan. The team was headed by Park Jung Hun and some of the other members of the team were Hong Pil Pyo, Ham Young Min and Song Jin Seok.
A press release informs that the team was given logistic support by “Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society”.
The Korean team was guided by the president of the society Arjun Kr Rai, Vice president Raju Rai and pilot Santosh Rai, during their trip in Sikkim, as the society maintains take-off points at Bulbuley dara, Baliman dara and Chakung Durpiney dara. The Korean team was impressed by the management of the society and technical expertise seeing the flying sites maintained by the society, the release mentions.
Though the weather was not favorable for long distance flights the team managed 3 days of local flying, and on the first day Rinzing Doma Bhutia the lady pilot of the Society also flew with the international team. Impressed by her flying the Korean team appreciated the work done by the Society in training and grooming good pilots in Sikkim, the release states.
The Korean team will be planning another expedition to Sikkim during spring when there will be favorable weather conditions and long flights can be undertaken. They are coordinating with the ”Sikkim Paragliding Adventure Sports Cooperative Society” for the expedition, so there is a possibility that Sikkim’s pilots will also be a part of the international expedition team, the release further adds.
