YAT organizes Saga Dawa procession for the devout

GANGTOK, 15 June: The Bum-Kor procession of religious books [Kanjur] was taken out by from Tharpa Manilhakhang at Tathangchen on the occasion of Saga Dawa today. The Bum-Kor, organized by the Yargay Association of Tathangchen [YAT], covered the route from Tathangchen-Secretariat Road to Kazi Road, Tibet Road, MLA Hostel, Tashi Namgyal Academy turning, White Hall and concluded at the Manilhakhang.
The procession received a massive participation of the students of Enchey SSS, West Point SSS, Modern SS and Tathangchen SS along with members of YAT and other social organizations and devotees from around the capital.

The procession, led by monks and a statue of the Buddha shouldered by devotees featured 125 religious books [Bum] being carried through town. People lined up along the roads sought the blessing of the books and the statue.

The Saga Dawa prayers and recitations had started yesterday at Tharpa Manilhakhang by monks of Enchey Monastery.
Speaking to media persons, the YAT general secretary, Karma Denzongpa, informed that before they were taken out the procession, these books were recited by 32 monks of Enchey Monastery.
He informed that YAT organizes the Saga Dawa prayers every year but this was the first time that it has also taken out a procession for the devotees.
