Respected educationist, DR Thapa, passes away

RANGPO, 14 June: DR Thapa, a respected educationist, passed away on 10 June at Central Referral Hospital Manipal, Tadong.
He was admitted to the ICU on 07 June in a critical condition and succumbed to complications brought on by high blood pressure. He leaves behind his wife, Bavy Thapa, two sons, Abinash and Abhishek, four brothers and three sisters.
Born on 17 November 1950, he was appointed a substitute teacher in the 1970’s at Rangpo Primary School and his services regularised in 1981.

In his long teaching career, he taught at Duga JHS, Rangpo High School, Dodak School in West Sikkim, as headmaster at Shapley Sardarey Secondary School and Borang School. He retired from government service in 2008 but continued his teaching career as principal of Tiny Tots School till the time of his death.

The Late Mr Thapa was felicitated by the Independence Day Celebration Committee Rangpo in 2009 for his contributions in the field of education. He was also the founder of Scouts & Guides at Rangpo School.
