College admissions to open on Saturday

GANGTOK, 01 June: A coordination meeting of the admission committee held here at Sikkim Government College [SGC], Tadong yesterday has notified that admissions 2011 for the Monsoon Semester -the first semester admissions -will be open for all eligible candidates from 04 June 2011 onwards.
Speaking to NOW! today, members of the admission committee informed that admissions for BA/ BSc/ BCom (Pass/ Hons) and BA Tourism will begin on the aforesaid date and that the eligibility criteria for collecting the prospectus were “defined” in two categories.
First, under category-one are included all local candidates having valid documents/ certificates issued by the competent authority and wards of Central Government Employees, Army Personnel, CPMF (transferred and presently working in Sikkim) with a minimum 50% in aggregate (from traditional subject background) and Minimum 70% in aggregate(from vocational backgrounds).

The second category is for those without the fore-mentioned documents and having a minimum of 75% in aggregate.
“The eligible candidates may apply for admission in the prescribed application form and prospectus is available at SGC. Application forms, complete in all respects may be submitted in all working days from 4 June to 11 June 2011”, informs the admission notice.
It may be mentioned that the documents required by the students at the time of collecting the prospectus will be documents as mentioned in category one, candidates attested class XII mark-sheet.
It may also be informed that candidates falling in category two, may submit attested copies of their mark-sheets, with a  percentage of 75% and above and that subjects like Home Science, Computer Science, Painting etc shall not be considered for calculation of the percentage.
“The last date for collecting the prospectus/application forms for admission is 11 June 2011 till 4pm. Forms shall neither be available, nor will be accepted after the prescribed last date and time. It is further notified that collection of prospectus and submission of forms for admission does not at all guarantee admission. Admission will be strictly on Merit and as per the policy of the Government,” informs the notice.
Lastly, it was also said that application forms incomplete in any respect will be rejected without any notice or information.
