Tactics of torching vehicles returns

‘MELLI SONAM’S’ VEHICLE TORCHED IN MELLI
NAMCHI, 20 March: The political environment, vitiated by the Singling episode, returned the tactics of torching unattended vehicles to news again with a vehicle belong to Nuk Tshering Bhutia, also known as “Melli Sonam”, targeted with arson at Melli at 1 a.m. today. One person has been picked up in connection with the arrest, it is learnt.

Mr. Bhutia informs that a group approached his house at Melli, near the Forest check-post at around 1 a.m. today, and torched the Scorpio vehicle [SK-02-7774], registered in his wife’s name, parked there.
After an FIR was filed at the Melli Police Station, one Nir Vir Tamang, 38, of Melli was taken into custody in connection with the case.
Melli PI, Bijoy Subba, while speaking to media-persons, informed that the arrest was made on the basis of circumstantial evidence and the case registered under Section 435 of Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bhutia has expressed satisfaction with the police follow-up to his complaint, pointing out that this was a rare case when someone has been arrested for such arson, with most previous cases having led to no arrests.
He has demanded that the police investigate the case thoroughly and find out who master-minded the attack and what their intentions were.
He also informed that he himself suspects three persons as having being the main people behind the attack and said that he has forwarded their names to the Melli Police and was expecting effective follow-up.
