MANGAN, 15 Feb: The delegation of people from Lachung, including Pipon (II) of the Dzumsa, Thendup Lachungpa, called on the DM (North), TN Kazi, yesterday and placed a memorandum with him registering their reservations against the Lachung Hydroelectric power project [to be implemented by Polyplex Himalayan Infrastructure Pvt Ltd] and also making a verbal complaint against Pipon[I] Chedup Lachungpa.
The meeting included the presence of the SDMs of Mangan and Chungthang and SDPOs, Mangan and Chungthang.
During the meeting, the DM assured that the proposed hydel project will not be undertaken without taking the Dzumsa, Pipons and the public into confidence and informed at that at present, there was no proposal to implement a hydel project in Lachung.
He urged the people not to get carried away by rumours and stated that as per the public request, relevant papers have already been forwarded to the concerned Departments and authorities.
The DM also clarified that the Pipon elections were held in the first week of December 2010 and Pipon elected with the mandate of the Dzumsa and the people of Lachung. If there were any grievances against him, these should be submitted in writing, after which follow-up action can be taken up as per standing rules and regulations, he said.
Regarding the other grievances raised at the meeting, the DM informed that he has already submitted a detailed report on the matter to the concerned departments and investigations were underway.
