GANGTOK, 04 Jan [IPR]: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Mrs. Tika Maya Chamling have extended their deep condolences over the passing away of Lharipa Ganden Lama and Power Secretary AK Giri, both of whom passed away recently.
Late Lharipa Ganden Lama was known as a humble and pious person with high integrity.
In 1986, Lharipa Ganden Lama was conferred the National Award for Master Craftsman by the President of India. In 1987, the State Government awarded him with a certificate for meritorious service followed by the State Award in 15 August 1999 in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of traditional arts and crafts of Sikkim. In 1997, he received the Krishna Smrity Award from the Sikkim Sahitya Parishad. His mastery over the traditional Thanka painting art was known throughout the state and the country.
In his condolence message Mr Chamling said that the loss of Mr Ganden Lama is a loss to the entire Sikkimese community.
The Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling and Smt Tika Maya Chamling have expressed their profound grief over the sudden demise of Principal Chief Engineer-cum-Secretary, Energy and Power Department, Government of Sikkim, AK Giri.
In his message, it is mentioned that the late AK Giri was known as a simple, soft spoken and hard working person of high moral integrity. During his tenure as head of the Energy and Power Department he showed his ability as a capable administrator and a good human being.
