Retirements create two vacancies in Sikkim cadre central services


GANGTOK, 29 Oct: The state government is to have a meeting with central officials, particularly officials from the UPSC and other Ministries regarding the appointment of 2 central officials with the state government in the light of existing vacancies. One is the appointment of an IAS officer and the other of an IFS official, it is learnt.
Officials inform that these 2 vacancies have been created as two officials have retired. It has been clarified by officials that these appointments are not to do with the creation of more posts for IAS / IFS officers in the state. Recently the sanctioned strength of IAS officers had in fact been reduced by the state government.
As informed the meeting is to take place on 01 November; there will be a member of the Union Public Service Commission who is a Minister of State ranked official and along with him will be two Joint Secretary ranked officials of concerned ministries.
On the side of the state government will be the Chief Secretary, Secretary, Department of Personnel, Secretary, Forests and the senior most IAS officer in the state. The meeting will also decide in what rank the central officials will be posted which will depend on seniority in the state service.
