GANGTOK, Oct 28: Dissident MLA Prem Singh Tamang’s [Golay] campaign against his party reaches North Sikkim today with a public meeting at Kabi today. Continuing his tirade against the State Government and the SDF, he focused his address on corruption and nepotism allegations. Given the venue of the meeting, he also alleged that the State Government has remained indifferent to the needs and aspirations of people of North district.
As for the political party he is expected to launch after the panchayat poll process, a press release from Jacob Khaling informs that Mr. Tamang announced that the party was ready and awaiting an auspicious date to make the formal announcement.
Returning to issues close to North district, he alleged today that despite frequent claims of striving to bring the Karmapa to Rumtek, the SDF Government has been unable to do so because of a “controversial” report submitted to the Centre by one of its chief secretaries [KS Rao] which remains ignored by the State Government.
He also contended that the State government’s attitude of posting ‘victimised’ teachers to North Sikkim was the reason why schools and students in the district were not receiving the best services.
