SSACS Red Five Bus heads towards Namchi


18 TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN THE RED FIVE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT IN SOUTH SIKKIM
GANGTOK, 16 Jan: Sikkim State AIDS Control Society ‘s Red Five Bus was flagged off by the SSACS Project Director, Dr Uttam Pradhan from STNM Hospital premises today. With the completion of Red Five Football for East Sikkim, now the organizers will tour in the bus to South, West and North Sikkim for the tournament.
Hope Foundation emerged as the champions of East Sikkim in the tournament and now the organizers will conduct the tournament in rest of the districts. With the flag off, the bus headed towards Namchi today for the Red Five Football Tournament.
The Red Five Football was kicked off on 06 January at MG Marg and the knock-out matches were played between 10 to 14 January at Guards Ground, in which Hope Foundation was the winner and Young Star was the runners-up. The tournament has 12 teams each in West and North Sikkim, while 18 teams are participating in South Sikkim. The East Sikkim had 64 teams in the tournament.
The tournament is part of the Red Fest multi media campaign of SSACS to generate awareness on drug abuse and HIV/ AIDS keeping in mind the youth falling in the age group between 15-49 yrs.
“We hope that the tournament in South and West district will be successful. The main objective is to spread the message on HIV/AIDS and also to create awareness on drug abuse,” said a mentor of Hope Foundation, KC Nima.
