Girish and the Chronicles invited to perform at Montenegro’s National Day celebrations in New Delhi

GANGTOK, 11 July: “Girish and the Chronicles”, the Gangtok-based rock band, continues its association with the “the pearl of the Mediterranean”, Montenegro, and has been invited to perform at the country’s National Day celebrations in New Delhi. GnC, it may be recalled, had won the silver trophy at the Suncance Skale music competition held in Montenegro last year, selected for the finals held there from a nationwide talent hunt in India.

The Montenegro embassy in New Delhi has invited the band for a guest performance at the national day celebrations on 13 July being hosted by the embassy at the Hotel Taj Mahal. Significantly, Montenegro will be launching an “Indo-Montenegro Friendship Society” on the day in a move to promote cultural, tourism and trade exchange.
Montenegro’s National Day marks the date in 1878 when the Congress of Berlin recognized Montenegro as the 27th independent state in the world.
“It is an opportunity for us to perform on such prestigious platform to represent Sikkim. Also to highlight, this is a kind of break every Sikkimese youth aspires to achieve. We are lucky to have secured this opportunity and we are very excited about the chance we have received,” the band shares in a press communiqué announcing its latest gig.
