Refresher course for foresters on scientific management of forest resources


GANGTOK, 04 May: A refresher course on “Scientific Management of Forest and its Resources” is scheduled to be held at the Forest Department Conference Hall from 05 to 07 May.
The course is considered important because Forest Department staff will be trained especially on the ‘working plan’ and its components, informs a press release. The ‘Working Plan’ is a new concept to forestry in Sikkim and has been prepared taking into consideration all ground realities, the release adds. It is a moment of pride for the state and the Department to have prepared the Working Plan and move towards implementation in the field, the release adds.
The course will begin with training for Head Forest Guard followed by Block Officers on the second day and Range Officers on the last day, the release informs.
Besides the working plan, other projects like the JICA-assisted SBFP project, FDA, IWDP, IWMP etc will also be discussed in detail. It is also part of the implementation of the Chief Minister’s 100 days programme.
