FINAL AUDITIONS HELD FOR RED RIBBON OPEN DRAMA CONTEST IN EAST SIKKIM
GANGTOK, 18 Jan: The final audition of the Multi Media Campaign 2012-2013 ‘Red Ribbon Open Drama Contest, District Champ’ concluded today at TNA auditorium, Gangtok. The Campaign is an initiative of Sikkim State AIDS Control Society to educate and communicate the population on HIV/AIDS, Substance abuse and related issues through infotainment.
As per a press release, out of the 38 teams from the East district which had registered,15 made it to the final audition. Five teams have been selected for the Finals scheduled on 14 February 2013.
The teams are Khusboo & Group, Gangtok, Sanskar Bharti-Sikkim Chapter, Recovering Users-Aho, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gangtok B and Navajyoti Sangh, Namrang. The teams will perform a theme-based drama on various topics as HIV/AIDS & Substance Abuse (Youth Vulnerability), Referral Services & Women Issues (STD. ICTC, PPTCT etc), Safe Behavior (Consistent Use of Condom), Stigma & Discrimination and Positive Living (ART).
The contest is being judged by a panel of 3 experts, Dr. D.S. Kerongi [Joint Director, Sikkim State AIDS Control Society], Gayatri Rai and Phurba Lepcha from Culture and Heritage Department, Government of Sikkim.
It may be mentioned here that the auditions for the ‘Red Ribbon Open Drama Contest, District Champ’ had started from Mangan on 05 January. The contest reached Namchi and Gyalshing on 08 and 10 January respectively. The finals for Namchi and Gyalshing will be held on 27 and 29 January respectively, the release informs.
A total of 162 teams had registered from all over the state, these teams were pre-auditioned and only 57 teams made it to the audition which was conducted at the District Headquarters.
