Rajya Sainik Board to begin coaching classes for Army recruitment

GANGTOK, 24 June:  Rajya Sainik Board, Sikkim will shortly begin coaching classes to prepare Class VIII to XII pass candidates who have cleared the medical and physical tests for recruitment in the Indian Army. This process will not only help increase manpower in the army but also encourage the Sikkimese youth to join the armed forces.
Efforts are being carried out to include more Sikkimese youth in the various units of the Indian army, informed Col. (Rtd.) DN Bhutia, Secretary Rajya Sainik Board, Sikkim during the quarterly pension tour of Rajya Sainik Board, that commenced from 20 June to 29 June.
The tour will cover East district first and then enter the West district from 25 June and finally conclude at Namchi, South district on 29 June. The objective behind the tour is to disburse various welfare grants sanctioned by the government and to interact with ex-servicemen and attend to their grievances and other problems and carryout awareness campaign on the requirement process in the army, navy and the air force, informed Mr Bhutia in a press release.
Commenting on the recently concluded army recruitment, he expressed his happiness that more youth are now coming forward to join the armed forces adding that it was a big leap forward in terms of recruitment where in a single recruitment rally, 468 candidates have been shortlisted during the first phase of physical tests and documents inspection which is a record in the history of recruitment in Sikkim.
“Those candidates are presently undergoing medical tests at various military hospitals and probably 60-70 might not be able to pass the final written tests”, Col Bhutia said.
Colonel DN Bhutia further states that the state government is serious in implementing and carrying out projects and missions through which maximum youth especially from the semi-literate group may join the armed forces since it is the only organization which can give a stable, secured and dignified career along with good pay and perks plus a very good post retirement pension and other benefits.
